This temple had been built on the confluence of Beas and Suketi rivulet by Raja Sidh Sen who ruled Mandi State during 1664-1727. There are many other Shiva temples in the town including Ardhnarishwar, Mahamritunjaya, Neelkanth Mahadev, Kameshwar Mahadev, Raneshwar Mahadev and Ekadash Rudra.
